Route 51 Bridge over Montour Run Closed this Weekend in Moon & Robinson

PennDOT District 11 is announcing the bridge that carries Route 51 (Coraopolis Road) over Montour Run in Moon and Robinson townships, Allegheny County, will be closed this weekend, May 18-21 weather permitting. (Read More)

The Moon Township Comprehensive Plan committee meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Moon Township Municipal Building at 1000 Beaver Grade Road on the following Wednesdays with the corresponding topics of discussion:
• May 9 - Transportation
• June 12 - Land Use
• July 11 - Community Goals and Objectives
The Planning Department asks for residents and business owners' questions and feedback as the comprehensive plan reaches its final stages.

Moon Township invites the public to attend the Waterfront Park project meeting on Tuesday, May 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Moon Township Municipal Building located at 1000 Beaver Grade Road, Moon Township. This meeting will be a highly interactive forum for the community and is open to all age groups.

Residents and businesses should be advised that construction will be taking place on the Thorn Run Road/Beaver Grade Road Intersection. Please use caution when driving in these areas and be courteous of construction workers. Allow extra time while traveling. View Schedule Information

Moon Township Municipal Authority will be flushing water mains and testing and inspecting fire hydrants nightly; Sunday through Friday, April 22, 2012 – May 19, 2012. Flushing is scheduled between 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Customers may notice low water pressure and water discoloration during this time. It is recommended that customers visually check water before using. Any discoloration will normally clear in a short time.

Moon Township’s Environmental Advisory Council will hold their Annual Recycling Day on Saturday, June 2, 2012 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. in front of the Township Municipal Building at 1000 Beaver Grade Road. This event is open to Moon Township residents only – proper ID is required. Acceptable items include: reusable construction material, electronics, appliances, and tires. The Moon Township Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 6:30 PM in the Municipal Building, 1000 Beaver Grade Road, Moon Township, Allegheny County, PA 15108.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to rename Moon Park Pond to "Nelson Pond" in honor of Mr. Edwin Nelson for his 46 years of continued service to Moon Township. (Read More)

Moon Township welcomes reinstated Assistant Manager and Planning Director, Adam McGurk. McGurk is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he earned a BA in Public and Urban Affairs, Urban Policy and Planning and then went on for his Masters of Public Administration at The Pennsylvania State University.
