Building Inspection & Permitting A permit is to ensure proposed construction work is done safely and in accordance with the approved plans and codes. The Township of Moon has adopted the PA state wide Uniform Construction Code Regulations, as modified by the PA UCC RAC.

Complete Application
Applications available on the links above or at the Township office. Please include all necessary documents.
Review
Plans are reviewed to ensure compliance with the Township’s zoning and building codes.
Processed/Contacted
If the permit application is complete and submitted with all the necessary documents, a permit is typically issued within a week of the submittal. When review is complete, a permit will be issued. A placard is provided to the homeowner to post in a place visible from the street. This signals the public that work is progressing under Township authorization.
Construction Inspection
After the building permit has been issued and paid for, construction inspection takes place.
Permits are needed for:
- Additions
- Sheds
- Decks
- Solar Panels
- Fencing Around Pool
- Structural Changes
- New Construction
- Swimming Pools, Hot Tubs, Spas
- Retaining Walls over 30" in Height
- Swimming Pool Fencing
- Roof over Patio
Permits are NOT needed for:
- Gutters and Downspouts
- Retaining Wall less 30" in Height
- Movable Shed No than Larger than 80 SF
- Roof Covering
- Repair/Replace Windows
- Siding Replacement
- Yard Fencing*
Yard Fencing* Must be on your property and cannot be located on Township right-of-way with a maximum height of 6' and at least 22' setback from any road. May go up to the side and rear property lines with the exception if there is a road on the side or rear. You are required to call PA ONE CALL before you dig, 1.800.242.1776.
