Planning and Development

The Community Development Department oversees development related activities and zoning administration to ensure that land uses are consistent with the municipal's long- and short-term goals and objectives. In addition, the department serves as the municipal staff liaison to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors and reports on land use issues.

The Community Development Department is responsible for the processing of applications for land development, simple subdivision, major and minor land developments, grading/excavating, floodplain, and stormwater management. The department coordinates meetings with applicants and developers in order to assist with the approval process.
