The Cable TV Advisory Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month 6:30 PM at the MCA-TV Studio.
Basic Responsibilities
-Advising the director of the cable TV station in regards to programming, equipment, volunteers and all other areas relating to station operations.
-Reporting to and advising the Moon Township Board of Supervisors in regards to station operations and issues relating to cable television and franchise agreements.
MCA-TV
MCA-TV, Moon Community Access Television, is a community-based network of public access, educational, and governmental programming owned and operated by the Township of Moon. It is shown locally on Comcast channel 14 and Verizon FiOs channel 35 reaching more than 20,000 households. MAG-TV
MAG-TV, Moon Area Government Television, is the sister station to MCA-TV, Moon Community Access Television. MAG-TV airs government education programs including public meeting coverage of the Moon Township Board of Supervisors, Moon Area Board of Education, and Moon Township’s neighboring municipalities. MAG-TV is owned and operated by the Township of Moon. Tune into MAG-TV on Comcast channel 18 and Verizon FiOs channel 37.
Public Awareness Weekend
Every March, MCA-TV holds a live television event called Public Awareness Weekend. This event affords local non-profit organizations the opportunity to speak about their organization, upcoming events and ways for individuals to get involved. Interviewers, which typically include MCA-TV staff members, volunteers and board members, conduct a 30 minute interview segment with each organization. In recent years, Public Awareness weekend featured interviews with more than 30 local non-profits who used the opportunity to educate others about their cause and encourage people of the community to take part and volunteer.
Five Year Strategic Plan
The MCA-TV Advisory Board recently submitted a five-year strategic plan that outlined the primary goals and objectives for the television studio to the Board of Supervisors. The plan’s main points focus on the work space, staffing, equipment, volunteers and the structure of the current advisory board.
