Trick or Treat
Moon Township Trick or Treat will be on Sunday, October 31 from 6-7:30 PM. Halloween is a festive and fun time of the year for kids, but it can be a little tricky for parents. Here are some safety tips to be sure it’s a treat for everyone.
- Make sure your child’s costume fits properly and that they can see clearly.
- Apply makeup instead of wearing a mask. Masks can be hot and uncomfortable, and they can obstruct a child’s vision.
- Be sure the costume is visible at night. If a costume is dark in color, add some reflective tape on the front and back.
- Purchase a costume that is flame retardant.
- Arrange for an adult or responsible teenager to accompany younger children when Trick or Treating.
- Make sure kids never approach an unlit house, or enter a house of people you don’t know very well.
- Carry a flashlight.
- Be aware of traffic.
- Use sidewalks when possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the street-facing oncoming traffic.
- Do not accept rides from anyone but a family member.
- Instruct all trick-or-treaters not to sample treats until they are home and the treats have been examined by an adult.
- Inspect treats at home in a well-lit area and throw away anything opened, partially unwrapped, or not in its original wrapper.
- Call the police if you find any suspicious treats.
